Why does my 80s filter photo look wrong?

It does not look like me

Identity drift usually means the model could not read your face clearly. Causes: the face is small in the frame, in shadow, at a steep angle, or partly covered. Fix: crop tighter to your head and shoulders, shoot facing a window, remove glasses, and try again.

The face or hands look warped

Distortion tends to come from very low-resolution inputs or images that already had strong AI beauty filtering. The model is rebuilding detail it cannot actually see. Fix: use the original, un-filtered photo at full size.

The 1980s styling is too subtle

If the result barely looks retro, the photo probably left the AI little room to work — a busy background, bold modern clothing, or a very tight crop. Fix: a plain background and neutral clothing let the model commit to big hair, period wardrobe and a synthwave backdrop.

There are extra people, limbs or objects

This almost always means the input had more than one person, a mirror, or a poster with a face in it. Fix: crop to just you, with nothing face-like in the background.

The colours look muddy or grey

A very dark or backlit original gives the model a poor base. Fix: brighter, front-lit source photo.

It failed completely

A failed generation is not counted against your weekly allowance — only completed images are. Retry once; if it keeps failing, the file may be corrupt or over 12 MB. Export a fresh copy and try that. Still stuck? Email admin@try2.app with your account email.
